Golden Hillock School Memorial 2012

A large (3m x 1.5m) fabricated steel sculpture created as the centrepiece of the School's memorial garden.

The piece was commissioned following the sudden death of a member of staff and the concept design was developed through a series of practical workshops and discussion groups with pupils and teachers.

They key theme which emerged from the discussion groups was that of text and writing and the flowing lines of the sculpture are inspired by the calligraphy of cultures from around the world

The organically curved and faceted surfaces are built up from more than 80 separate steel plates individually hand cut and welded from a series of templates.
